RECEIVES LARGE ARCHITECTURAL MEMBRANE ORDER
FOR MILLENNIUM DOME


MERRIMACK, NEW HAMPSHIRE, September 9, 1997 -- Chemfab Corporation (NYSE:CFA) today announced that it has received a purchase order for approximately $7.5 million to provide its SHEERFILL® Architectural Membrane and FABRASORB® Acoustical Membrane for use in the roof structure of the Millennium Dome in Greenwich, a borough of London, England. The government-sponsored project will be the centerpiece in the revitalization of Greenwich, and will be the focal point in turn-of-the-century "Millennium" celebrations. Thereafter, the dome is planned to be used as an exhibition center. The Millennium Dome will cover a floor area of 585,000 square feet and will incorporate over 1,000,000 square feet of SHEERFILL membrane as the outer skin of the dome and an additional 1,000,000 square feet of FABRASORB as an interior acoustical liner. The Millennium Dome will be the world's largest continuous membrane roof. Chemfab expects to complete delivery of the membrane material before the end of its fiscal year 1998.
